Address the root cause
Functional Medicine is a personalized, systems-oriented model that empowers patients and practitioners to achieve the highest expression of health by working in collaboration to address the underlying causes of disease.
That means you won't just get medications to cover up your symptoms. We'll work together to dig deep into your history and thoroughly examine your current state of health to develop a personalized plan to achieve your optimal state of wellness.
Optimize structure and function
Osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) includes a variety of hands-on techniques to treat body structures to regain and maintain function. This also includes craniosacral therapy, which works with the subtle movement of the cranial bones and flow of cerebrospinal fluid. OMT can be used to treat a wide range of issues involving the interconnected networks of nerves, muscles, bones, soft tissues, vessels and lymphatics.
These modalities are especially effective for pain, stress, acute states of illness such as cold and flu, and for prenatal and postnatal changes in the body.
The osteopathic philosophy of medicine sees an interrelated unity in all systems of the body. This philosophy was developed in 1874 by Andrew Taylor Still, MD, who pioneered the concept of "wellness" in the United States and recognized the importance of treating within the context of the whole body.
"To find health should be the object of the doctor. Anyone can find disease." - A.T. Still
Caring for the whole person and family
Family Medicine is patient-oriented. Physicians in this field are trained to address every aspect of a patient's life, not only one complaint or body system.
As a board-certified Family Medicine physician, I have experience in treating all ages from newborns to the elderly and everyone in between. This also includes prenatal, perinatal, and postnatal care.
Treating each woman uniquely
The female body is unique in every way. Unfortunately, conventional medicine offers limited insight and treatment into women's health concerns, but there is so much more to offer through hands-on manipulation, nutrition, herbal supplementation, and lifestyle change. I use a combination of evidence-based medical treatment options and holistic, natural options which have been used for centuries around the world in traditional medicine.
These treatments can help to balance the body and maintain healthy menstrual cycles, fertility, and transition into the post-fertile state. Conditions include, but are not limited to painful, heavy, or irregular periods, menstrual headaches, amenorrhea (lack of a period), Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), infertility, peri-menopause, and menopause.
